Workers on strike at Turku shipyard

The workers at STX Finland Turku shipyard went on strike on Thursday, January 21. The strike will continue for the rest of the week. It is a protest against the plans to reduce the workforce by more than 400 employees at the Turku shipyard. Their trade union is demanding that Finland immediately introduce powerful measures to support the shipbuilding industry and that a common strategy for ensuring the competitiveness be jointly drawn up by the employees and the management of the shipyard.
